Training
Professor Arri received his undergraduate medical education from the University of Birmingham, and completed his subspecialist training in reproductive medicine and surgery at Guy’s Hospital, London.
Career Activity
Professor Arri Coomarasamy is a Consultant Gynaecologist at our Birmingham clinic. He is a fertility specialist with over 20 years of experience in clinical medicine. His specialist areas include IVF, ICSI, implantation care (for couples with repeated unsuccessful IVF cycles), recurrent miscarriage management, reproductive immunology and pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD). He is well known for his research at the University of Birmingham and Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospital, focusing on reproductive medicine and the prevention of miscarriage.
Research
Professor Arri is the Director of Tommy’s National Centre for Miscarriage Research. This is the largest miscarriage research centre in Europe, with specialist research teams at the University of Birmingham, University of Warwick and Imperial College, London. Professor Arri’s research has resulted in the publication of over 140 research articles in high-impact journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine, the Lancet, the British Medical Journal and Human Reproduction. He is also the author of 5 medical textbooks and over 40 medical chapters, including an award winning book on “Assisted Conception Treatment: Challenges and Management Options”. His portfolio includes numerous national and international multicentre randomised controlled trials.
Teaching
Professor Arri takes particular pride in mentoring junior doctors and researchers, and several of his trainees have become outstanding clinicians and researchers.
International and charitable work
Professor Arri serves on several international and national committees, including Joint Global Health Trials Panel of Wellcome Trust, Medical Research Council, and Department for International Development, various World Health Organisation committees, and the Early Pregnancy Clinical Studies Group. He is the founding trustee of Ammalife, a UK-registered charity with a global mission to reduce maternal deaths in low-income countries (www.ammalife.org).
Dr Rima Rajkhowa,

Career
Dr. Madhurima Rajkhowa MD FRCOG, is the Medical Director at CARE Birmingham. She is a Consultant Gynaecologist and trained subspecialist in Reproductive Medicine. She has over 20 years’ experience within the field of Fertility and Assisted Conception, both in the NHS as well as the Private sector. In 2002 she was appointed Consultant Gynaecologist and Lead for Fertility Services at Ninewells Hospital in Scotland, and has been Clinical Lead for the Fertility and Assisted Conception Services at Birmingham Women’s Hospital since 2009.
Specialties
She brings a wealth of experience in managing all aspects of subfertility, reproductive health and assisted conception treatment for couples with problems conceiving. Dr Rajkhowa provides an informed and dedicated service with compassion and empathy, whether you are undergoing treatment for the first time, or with a more complex history. She specialises in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, Pre implantation Diagnosis and Screening.
Teaching
She has been a Reproductive Medicine subspecialist member of the Subspecialty Training Committee of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, and is the training programme director for the region.

She is an active member of the British Fertility Society, and European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology and has published widely in peer reviewed journals in this field.
